Carlos Cuevas

Director

Long-time arts appreciator, political activist, and civil servant, Mr. Cuevas previously served as the New York City Clerk and the Deputy Borough President of the Bronx. During his time as the Deputy Borough President of the Bronx, Carlos advocated for the legalization of domestic partnerships. Not only did he fight for the rights of same-sex couples to establish domestic partnership, he particularly wanted to help older citizens seek their own interests, comfort, and stability. In his own words, “Never forget us abuelitos.” Carlos also served on the board of the Bronx Art Museum and currently resides in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
