Class Description

Have you always wanted to play an instrument? (Or, do you play and want to connect more with the music?) Learn to play in a natural way, the way music began, with wind, inspiration, breath. Take yourself back to a simpler time. Soothe your body with your breath. Soothe yourself and others with sound, a wind expression of your heart. Workshops start with guided meditation, moves to learning about the flute, followed by another meditation and structured playing. The meditative atmosphere helps to quiet our mind allowing our creativity to be freely expressed. Native Flutes will be available for use. “Native Flute: Be the Music” is a series of four 2-hour workshops. While each workshop builds on the next, the workshops are designed to stand alone as well. The workshops can be taken in any order. Watch for workshops 1 & 2 in the fall catalog. A one-hour introductory class will be offered before the beginning of each workshop to give you a bit

Class Description

Dust off your sewing machine and learn how to use it! We'll learn how to set up a machine and practice basic skills needed to make any project. This class is intended for people who own a machine but have no experience using it.

Required Supplies

• -Working Sewing machine
• -Thread
• -Heavy paper (card stock or construction paper)
• -Pencil or Pen
• -Scissors
• -Scraps of fabric

Class Description

You can knit and you can purl but you'd like to do more! We'll cast on and learn the extra stitches needed for lace as well as how to read lace knitting charts while making a lace dishcloth from inexpensive cotton yarn.

• -US Size 7 needles (if you have US Size 6 or 8, they will also work. Your dishcloth will just be a little larger or smaller)
• -1 skein of Worsted Weight Cotton yarn in a medium to light solid color. Suggested yarns include Nifty Cotton and Sugar & Cream.
• -Tapestry Needle
• -All materials available from Freeman's Creative and Hillsborough Yarn Shop who are currently shipping supplies or other big box stores.

Class Description

If you've never knit before or need a refresher that starts from the beginning, this two-week virtual class will get you started. We'll make a basic garter stitch dishcloth to develop your skill.

Class Description

Books are fun to read, but they are also a great place to write or draw! Let Mrs. Allison guide your kids through the process of making their very own notebooks (with a little bit of help from you) using creative folding, fun embellishments and craft supplies easily found around the house. Then sit back and watch as they fill the pages with all the amazing ideas whizzing around their heads!

• Helpful items: paper lunch bags, origami paper or paper cut into squares at least 4×4 inches, recipe cards, glue stick, black pen, blank piece of sketchpad paper or construction paper...optional: feathers or stickers to decorate your covers, piece of ribbon 10-12 inches long.

Class Description

Mother's Day is just around the corner - and I bet your mom would love a relaxing day at the beach right now! Since we can't go to the beach we are going to bring a little bit of the beach to us by creating a fun pair of beach sandals. You can do this craft with mom for some family fun, or on your own and surprise her with a new pair of sandals when you're done!

Helpful items: one pair of foam flip-flops, ribbon in as many widths, colors, and patterns as you can find: solid, printed, sheer, opaque,shiny, matte, etc.

Class Description

Participants explore movement and memories from home in this online creative movement class for seniors. The class begins with a seated warm up and progresses to standing. Modifications will be provided for those who want to remain seated for the class. We will explore poems and memories through movement. Participants will experience an increase in mobility and range of motion though safe and supported movement activities. Though we are apart we can still move together and build community. No prior experience is necessary. Please join us!

Dive into opportunities to morph your kinesthetic awareness into technical knowledge and you will find yourself moving with greater ease when in the air, on the studio floor, or walking down the street. Improvisational structures provide guidance for explorations while also allowing options to explore your own movement expression. Aerial Dance skills are integrated with meditative imagery, hands-on partnering work, and informal discussions that allow students to learn from one another and explore in a myriad of ways.
