Join us for a virtual program in conjunction with the exhibition ᎢᏛᏍᎦ ᏫᏥᏤᎢ ᎠᎵᏰᎵᏒ: ᎪᏥᎩ ᏣᎳᎩ ᏔᎷᏣ ᏗᎬᏗ, ᎦᏙ, ᏃᎴ ᎪᎵᏍᏗᎯ Weaving Across Time: Contemporary Cherokee Basket Making, Land, and Identity. Lightning round talks followed by a panel about the intrinsic relationship between Eastern Band Cherokee identity, land, and craft. Speakers include Adam Griffith, Director of the Revitalization of Traditional Cherokee Artisan Resources based in Cherokee, NC, and Dr. Courtney Lewis, Professor of Anthropology at Duke University, and Associate Professor at the University of South Carolina – Columbia. She is the author of Sovereign Entrepreneurs: Cherokee Small-Business Owners and the Making of Economic Sovereignty.
