The Schwa Show is a National Juried competition recognizing excellence in fine arts and crafts
Exhibition Dates: October 1 – 28, 2021
Deadline Date: August 21, 2021 by 11:59pm
ELIGIBILITY
This exhibition is open to artists in any media and subject matter. Artists must be age 18 or up. All work must have been completed in the past 3 years and never previously exhibited at emerge. All pieces must fit through a standard sized door. Work must be available for entire exhibition. Video entries are accepted, but special equipment must be provided. Work must be “ready to hang” or will not be eligible.
ENTRIES & FEES
Each artist may submit up to 5 entries. The entry fee is $20 for three entries and $5 for each additional entry with a limit of five entries. All work must be labeled with title and artist at time of delivery, if accepted.
AWARDS
There will be cash awards:
1st Place – $500
2nd Place – $250
3rd Place – $100
JUROR – JERRY JACKSON
An artist, collector of craft, and a teacher, Jerry Jackson holds a master’s degree in Fine Arts from East Carolina University. His interests include ceramics and painting. Jerry has long been a community leader, serving on the boards of nonprofits including United Way, chambers, and arts and educational institutions. Jerry is married to Jeff Harris, a designer, and entrepreneur.
Jackson is the current executive director of John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, NC. Jackson previously served as deputy director of Penland School of Crafts. Prior to his decade at Penland, Jackson was executive director of Rocky Mount Arts Center, where he provided leadership and vision for the largest historic preservation site in the southeastern United States.
