Senior Manager of Marketing and Outreach

Position Summary

The new position of Senior Manager of Marketing and Outreach will, in collaboration with other members of the 4A Arts team, develop and implement a comprehensive marketing and outreach plan for (1) engaging arts and cultural organizations and artists to post events on our website and offer discounts to our members, (2) attracting users to utilize our site’s search features to find programming, and (3) converting users to paid members for access to discounts and other features. This position will play a critical role in helping 4A Arts to attract and engage an audience of arts and cultural organizations, artists, users, and members.

Responsibilities

  • Develop targeted messaging and ensure consistency across all channels
  • Develop and implement strategies for direct outreach to arts and cultural organizations, individual artists, and regional, state, and local arts councils and service organizations
  • Develop and implement membership strategies
  • Develop content for social media channels, newsletters, and website features
  • Develop and implement a social media strategy for platforms including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn
  • Monitor social media channels and manage interactions
  • Develop and implement a plan for paid social media and online advertising
  • Research and develop relationships with media outlets
  • Develop earned media tactics that increase media visibility
  • Recommend tactics for search engine optimization (SEO)
  • Develop and manage key marketing performance metrics and provide regular progress reports and analysis
  • Monitor and share trends happening in the arts, new media, and popular culture to inform the Marketing Strateg
  • Recommend allocation of marketing budget among paid advertising, consultants, and temporary/part-time staffing
  • Manage interns

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

While we do not expect one person to have all of the following qualifications, the successful candidate will possess many of the following skills:

  • Experience in planning and executing marketing strategies, media campaigns, and successful public relations efforts in a business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) environment
  • Experience with membership campaigns
  • Experience in a startup environment
  • Experience promoting a web platform a plus
  • Experience or interest in the arts and cultural sector
  • Experience with email, digital and social media marketing
  • Proficiency with Google Analytics, Google Ads, Hootsuite, or other social media management and analytics tools
  • Experience with Mailchimp or other email management and scheduling tools
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of search engine optimization (SEO) and search engine marketing (SEM) for digital promotions and content
  • Skilled at using analytics to assess marketing efficacy
  • Ability to write in an engaging voice appropriate for different platforms and target audiences
  • Graphic design skills a plus
  • Collaborative, inclusive and focused.

Education and Experience

  • Undergraduate degree and 5+ years of professional marketing/outreach experience, or equivalent education and experience

Executive Director

Position Summary

The Executive Director will support and implement vision and goals of 4A Arts. This person will be responsible for administration, fundraising, marketing, outreach, and strategic plans for 4A Arts.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Create and implement a robust business plan which outlines growth targets and strategic priorities and the timelines and strategies to achieve them
  • Responsible for fundraising and developing earned income (membership) necessary to maintain financial health and expand the organization’s reach
  • Build the size and scope of the organization’s membership
  • Establish and execute strategies for direct outreach to arts and cultural organizations and individual artists to increase website listing
  • Communicate effectively with the Board and provide, in a timely and accurate manner, information necessary for proper functionality and informed decision-making
  • Help develop, maintain, and support a strong and diverse Board of Directors
  • Oversee the creation of a marketing plan to increase website traffic, listings, and membership
  • Oversee operational, financial, administrative, and personnel management
  • Determine staffing requirements and oversee an effective staff recruitment process
  • Ensure that the organization abides by all applicable local, state and federal laws and regulations including those pertaining to 501c3 nonprofit organizations
  • Foster a positive working environment and organizational culture
  • Serve as an articulate, persuasive, and effective spokesperson

Required Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree; graduate degree preferred
  • Strategic organizational leader with at least 5 years of senior-level management experience preferably in a nonprofit and/or startup environment
  • Demonstrated track record of effective fundraising from foundations and individual donors
  • Experience developing a membership program or other earned income program
  • Past success working with a Board of Directors or similar entity
  • Strong track record of financial and operational management experience, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making, and reporting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Capacity to manage multiple responsibilities and ability to nimbly readjust priorities as situations change
  • Collaborative working-style that enables engagement within the organization and with external partners
  • Ability to maintain a high level of integrity and consistent ethical judgment
  • Commitment to the principles of Diversity, Equality, Inclusion and Accessibility

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading the growth of a start-up or small organization
  • Background in the development of advertising and marketing strategies, including online advertising and social media strategy
  • Strong understanding of current technology platforms and web-based businesses
  • Knowledge of the arts, cultural, and creative sector regionally or nationally
  • Background in advocacy as it pertains to 501c3 organizations
